Out of the Classroom and onto the Catwalk

600 tickets have sold out to our much loved Eye on Nature Wearable Arts Fashion Show!

Tamariki will walk the catwalk on Thursday 27 June 2019, 6:30pm-9pm at the Vodafone Events Centre as they show off their work of art to the audience and impress the judges with their eco-friendly wearable art pieces.

Each art piece represents an environmental message or concern which young Aucklanders have channelled through creative art.

If you haven't heard - young people really care about the environment and are expressing through many different forms recently - blogs, spoken word poems, school strikes - the list goes on.

The event theme for 2019 is: Friend or Foe, Restoring Habitats, Reducing Threats - Hoa hēhoaririkia haumaru papakāinga.

The Wearable Art pieces are encouraged to be made out of organic, recycled or repurposed materials and predominately student-made.

Our Judging panel of experts from the Manukau Institute of Technology, Auckland Art Gallery and Auckland Botanic Gardens will mark on interpretation of the theme, materials used, designer statement, originality, innovation and construction of the garment and artists overall effort.

Open to all Primary and Secondary Schools in the greater Auckland region. Competition is set to be fierce with over 65 + entries already registered and a total prize pool of $3500 cash up for grabs on the night.

For the first time, the competition is moving to the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau and tickets have already SOLD OUT!

Thanks to our proud sponsors, all six Southern Local Boards - Howick, Papakura, Franklin, Manurewa, Otara-Papatoetoe & Mangere-Otahuhu, Auckland Council, Whitecliff, and the Second Nature Charitable Trust.
